Dear Mr. James,

I am writing this letter to inform you about my excuse for being absent from work on 12th and 13th March 2019.

On 12th March, I was getting ready to come to the office, when I received a phone call from my mother regarding the sudden death of my grandmother, early that morning. Initially, I could not even believe it, as I was very attached to her. In that grief, calling any colleague to inform about my absence was the last thing on my mind. I hurried to my grandmother’s house.

As she used to live five hours away from my house, and her funeral was on the next day of her death, I had to stay there for a day, which is why I could not come to the office on 12th and 13th of March.

Kindly, excuse my absence for these two days. I will be very grateful to you. Now that I am back, I will compensate for the missed work.

Thank you for your understanding.

Regards,

Jill William.

Sample Letter for Being Absent Due to an Emergency

Dear Ms. Emily,

I am writing this excuse letter to inform you about the reason behind my absence on 11th April 2019.

My wife is pregnant and this is her 8th month going on. On 11th April 2019, she felt unbearable pain in her stomach. As this is going to be our first baby, we are not experienced and we thought that it might be the labor pain. We hurried to the hospital to get her checked. It took us quite a long while for the whole procedure, of tests and treatment, to be done. As I was in such a stressful situation, I could not even remember calling the office and informing. At the end of the day, we found that it was not the labor pain and we went home when she got better.

I hope you will understand my situation and excuse my absence for that day. I have already replied to all the pending emails for that day and will be doing the rest of the missing work as well.

Thanks again for your understanding.

Regards,

Dave Steven.

Sample Letter for Being Absent Due to Fever

Dear Mr. Scott,

I am writing this excuse letter to inform you about the reason behind my absence on 5th April 2019.

On 4th April 2019, when I went home from the office, I started shivering. I was feeling weak in the office as well, but I ignored it. I went to the doctor who told me that I was having high fever and chest congestion. He prescribed a few medicines and asked me to rest.

I thought I would get better in the morning and would attend the work so, I did not inform any of my colleagues. However, I did not know, but one of the medicines had sedatives. When I took it and slept, I woke up around the afternoon time on 5th April 2019.

As I still felt feverish and half of the day was already gone, I called my assistant to take care of the work for that day to avoid any delays.

I hope you will understand my situation and excuse me for 5th April 2019. Thank you for your understanding.

Regards,

Jennifer Walter.
