The tool breaks a job into individual work steps, identifies hazards for each step and records the controls required before work begins.
Users can choose an industry or work type, enter the job name, department, location, workers, tools and equipment, then add or remove job steps as needed. Each job step includes a hazard category, hazard description, existing controls, initial likelihood, initial severity, additional controls, residual likelihood, residual severity, responsible person and action status.
The generator automatically calculates initial and residual risk scores using a five-by-five likelihood and severity method. Risk levels are classified as Low, Medium, High or Extreme. A visual 5×5 risk matrix highlights the highest initial and residual risks, while the Risk Priority Ranking sorts job steps so supervisors can quickly identify the most critical work activities.
The report also includes PPE requirements, permits, training and competency needs, emergency controls and a pre-job briefing checklist. A Risk Acceptance Decision indicates whether the job is acceptable, acceptable with monitoring, requires further controls or should not proceed.
