How is Base Candy Needed calculated?
Base Candy Needed equals expected candy recipients multiplied by the number of candy pieces planned for each person.
How are peak traffic, safety margin, and reserve applied?
The percentages are added together and applied to the base requirement. Normal adds 0% for peak traffic, Busy adds 10%, and Very Busy adds 20%, in addition to the safety margin and reserve entered by the user.
What is Planned Extra Above Base?
It is Recommended Candy minus Base Candy Needed. This is the intentional extra quantity created by the peak, safety, and reserve settings.
What is Package Surplus?
Package Surplus is Total Pieces Purchased minus Recommended Candy. It represents extra pieces caused by buying complete packages.
How are Packages to Buy calculated?
Recommended Candy is divided by Pieces per Package and rounded up to the next whole package so the recommended quantity is covered.
How is Estimated Cost calculated?
Estimated Cost equals Packages to Buy multiplied by Price per Package. Cost per Person divides the estimated cost by expected candy recipients.
What happens if no guests or trick-or-treaters are entered?
The calculator safely returns zero requirements and zero cost per person rather than NaN, Infinity, or another calculation error.
What does Approx. Pieces per Candy Type mean?
It divides total purchased pieces by the number of candy types and rounds upward. It is an approximate planning figure because mixed packages may not contain equal quantities of each type.
What does Planning Confidence do?
It records how the turnout estimate was developed, such as last year's turnout, a guest-list estimate, a first-time estimate, or a conservative estimate. It is descriptive and does not alter the calculation.
Can I use it for a Halloween party?
